Hi! I just start a Thinline project. My plan just got home and I bring back home my father router!

I need some advice right away! On me second template ( the first one was a big miss), I make just one little mistake, I got about 1mm, not more, inside the line. The error is in the red circle.

I can start a new one but you may have a solution. I think i will draw just the neck pocket, cut it and put it over with some 2 face tape! what will you do this case!

I would glue some veneer in the area and fair it in.

It is very easy to repair a flaw or damage to a template. You can use epoxy or superglue and build up layers over a period of time. I use superglue and an accelerator. Build up the surface and then shape it as necessary. You can then use your repaired template to create another better template if you want.

I have also used aluminum tape to build up the edge of a template.
It builds quite quickly, and you can even rout over it with a bearing guide to create another template, or even to use for your guitar if you're careful.

Any of the above-mentioned substances will work. Building up a layer of 1mm with superglue would probably take a lot of applications. Quicker to use a couple layers of veneer or thin wood strips. Hell, even cardstock or the cardboard from a writing tablet could be used, then hardened with a good soaking in superglue. Just make sure that when you recut the template you make the transition from the original material to the added layer as seamless as possible so that it doesn't show up as a lump on your final cut. It's been a while but my project is still going on! After the little mistake on my first template, I decide to create a new one!

My friend and neighbor give me great birch wood. He also glue it!

So, the new template finish on the top of the birch and I can start my dream guitar!

I don't calculate my time on this project. It will become a guitar very expensive. After a few hours of routing, the two chambers are done.

For the next post, I'll show how I get the body out of the there!

The router left a big scratch :

I decide to keep the body! I don't have fancy tool! and I also can make mistake on every peices of wood I'll put my hands on! When the top will be glued on the body, it will ceate a cavity. It will bee easier ( I think ) the fill this mess with some wood dust and super glue.

That is a hard way to cut a body out. I would rather use a coping saw by hand than that method.

OK! here some new pics! I bought a 6 foot long board of birch with the 7 1/4 width and 3/4 tickness. Two peices were use to create the top and the other one can gice me 2 necks.

And here the top on the body with some glue!

With all the vibration of the planning and the router, I have now some glue problem.
You can't see very well but this part is unstuck. What can I do to fix this!?

I would try to work some glue between the two pieces and clamp them together.

Special humbucker design at neck position
single coil humbuker at bridge positin
Two volume ( they both are push pull pot - one for coil tapping and the other for more option with the special humbucker )

Nice job on the guitar. I especially like the chamber hole arrangement.

How did you stain the back/sides without staining the top's edges? Masking?

When you say the bridge pickup is a "single coil humbucker," do you mean a humbucker (such as a rail) that is the size of a single coil? (I can't really see it in the photos.)

I use birch wood! And the bridge pickup is an humbucker ( a rail one ). Sorry for my english!
