I'm going to be in the Amsterdam area for a couple of weeks. Are there any guitar-related places that I should visit? Stores, luthiers, etc. What about live acoustic music? Any recommendations on where to go?
Thanks,
Mark

Well, I've never been to Amsterdam, but I would ask these folks:

Can't recommend any luthier-related stops, but the Rijksmuseum (National Museum) and the Anne Frank house museum are two must-see places of interest.

Re: Amsterdam
Though i am originally from Amsterdam i don't know any luthiers there. However, if you're willing to rent a car for some daytrips there are a few that can be easily reached for a daytrip.
Otto Vowinkel is the only i know of that is actually in Amsterdam.
Frans Elferink in Noordwijkerhout would be my first choice to go and see.
There is Hans de Louter in Apeldoorn.
Leo Eimers is in Almere, which is about 20 minutes by train from Amsterdam.
There will be many more, i am sure, but i am not really familiar with any of them.
Let me know how you find the Netherlands.

Re: Amsterdam
Just walk round the streets and enjoy the canals. You could also hop on the jetfoil boat out back of the main railway station and go down to Ijmuiden for a brief look at the coast. The river/canal banks are an amazing hive of activity. Don't even think about trying to use a car in the city! Parking is impossible. Your hotel probably rents bikes, if not, get one at the railway station.

Well we had a great time and found no time for guitar-related activities. Loved Amsterdam and the rest of the places we visited in the Netherlands.....
