RIP Pete Seeger

Just heard on the radio that Pete Seeger has died. What a great life to celebrate, a true hero of the People. It's always sad to hear of someone passing away, but then think of all Pete did and how many folks he had an influence upon and be glad he was here for all that. I think his "ripples on the pond" will go for a very long time.

Sad to see you go Pete, but really glad you were here.

Listening to "Little boxes" is one of my earliest memories. That was my favorite song at age 4 in 1967. It still ranks pretty high. Pete's speaking and singing voice was always instantly recognizable. He would happily have been everybody's grandpa I think. The fact the he had the unshakable courage of his convictions made him an extraordinary American.

Seeger is the first person I ever heard play a banjo and he single-handedly got me into American folk music. Still have his banjo book sitting around somewhere! R.I.P.

My first real exposure to Pete was two sets of live double albums that he did with Arlo Guthrie in the late 1970's. Great stuff.
