Interesting DIY project.

The lack of protection for the fingers should be noted - i find that extremely careless. Otherwise a cool idea....

Cool use of manpower, but I wonder how long it will be before he's buying a motor!

The wheel design looks like woodgears Matthias's homemade bandsaw.

If by lack of finger protection, Beate, you mean that he didn't use a push stick in the final inches of cut, then yes: but otherwise, it seems the blade is covered in the vertical paths. If anything, I simply find the coordination of foot stomping in the lower body and steady hands in the upper body to be the biggest challenge to safety. But I suppose you can learn anything with enough practice. I'm just amazed that he can sustain fast enough blade feed to cut. I didn't notice any flywheels other than the mass of the wheels themselves. Pretty amazing what folks can come up with if the need is there.

I bet he will cut a lot of wood before he can afford to but a motor. and maybe he is a prepper prepparing for solar flares that take out the worlds power grid.
I know those would be the only reason I would build it with out a motor.
I have a lot of experience on how "not" to do things.
