Going back around 30+ years to those Fabulous '80s, does anyone know what The "Hofner Acoustic Filter" did?

On a guess, I'm going to say its a varitone or bass rolloff circuit that notched out some of the "electric" tonality of the company's existing instruments. Around that time, Hofner was cramming all sorts of electronics into its guitars - including preamps and graphic EQs - so this could be anything. The usual Hofner wiring diagram websites have not been a lot of help.
