Pressed tops

Post by munkynards »

Hi, I've been thinking about building an artchtop, and was wondering if anyone knew of a place to buy pressed tops/ backs. I worked at a guitar shop a few years ago and the owner built a few with tops that he bought online somewhere, but I can't seeM to remember where. I also don't keep in touch with him anymore, so I can't ask him.

Any suggestions would help a lot.
Thanks!

Please know that we require the use of full names both first and last here, and don't allow handles or knicknames. Please let us know your name and we'll change it for you, thanks.
At the top of each page you'll see our Forum Sponsors. There's a banner for Acme Archtops, they sell what you want.

Hello,

As a matter of fact, I was looking at that very thing tonight in the Stewart MacDonald catalog. I saw a pressed maple back (don't recall a spruce top) but I'll bet they are out there somewhere,,,maybe LMI.
Good luck,

Kollitz in Germany should be able to provide you with solid pressed tops - they have been making them for well over 50 years. I have no affiliation with them, but they supplied and continue to supply many of the German instrument makers with wood and wood parts.
