Here is the way we clamp stuff here in South Africa. One could train a handy constrictor to assist with purfling and finger board clamping? Anyway - this guy made things interesting!

I have been looking at this thread, but never read it because I thought it was kind of a shill, just why I looked in today, I am not sure, but that picture sure made it worth it. That'll keep you on your toes
