It would be like free handing something on a shaper. Pretty scary stuff. I can't see it.

It has to be a rasp type of cutter.
Something like that: http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/auri ... yrasp.aspx
There is a 50 mm diameter one which may be the one used :http://www.magma-tools.de/Director/idKe ... 749/name//

Id think it wasnt a shaper head forsure. the helix head is also way to large its gotta be a head that wont jam into the wood. There used to be a deal called sir lance er lot and I think it was a smallish chain saw type carving head ???

Greg,
I was thinking about the lancealot, there's a miniature version for proxxon miniature angle grinders. Those are about 2" dia and could be ganged to get the width needed but they will all be the same dia instead of the gentle arc that's visible in the video. http://www.katools.com/shop/tooth-chain-disc-p-71.html

I agree.
From the video it does not show (or sound) like a cutter with distinct blades - i.e. "whackitty-whacitty-whackitty..."
Much more like a rotary rasp.
