Quite a few years ago I remember someone posting about a builder who's realistic marquetry on his guitars was just amazing.
He did a guitar back where the marquetry made it appear that the back had a zipper that was partly unzipped, showing the inside of the guitar, but it all was marquetry inlaid into the back.
Can anyone come up with his name? I tried google images, etc. and can't come up with anything that is remotely connected to the guy I'm remembering, and it's driving me nuts.
Name of luthier who did very realistic marquetry ?

Nope,
Finally got a lead. It was almost certainly Phil Petillo (deceased). I called his son, David, and he thought he remembered Phil doing that guitar. He may be able to search his archives to see if it's there.
Thanks though J. C.
