Chuck nice shop,I was looking and had no idea it was half of a 2 car garage. I have a 2 car garage shop and have seemingly less space, good job. I love the use of the rafter space for your fly rods too.
At least I dont have a water heater in my garage hehe!

Hey Thanks Greg.
Really it is wider than a standard 2 car garage, but hey.
And there are a lot more fishing poles hanging from the ceiling than you see in these pictures.

Hey, Chuck: did y'all get jostled by those quakes?

Ya' know, I just heard about it a few minutes ago. Didn't feel a thing.
I think I was actually sitting on the coach in the shop at the time.
Haven't gotten a damn thing done all weekend - and I just have a bunch of easy stuff to do right now - route a groove, glue down a bridge patch ...
BBQ'ing and working on lacrosse league stuff all day.

Holy shake-table Batman, it's been rockin' out there in the desert all day.
Check out this list of earthquakes, and look at all the >4 - distributed around all day.

Chuck, most of those little quakes are too small to feel. The recording equipment is pretty sensitive so it looks like a lot of action, but stay close to your wits in case "The Big One" is following this activity.

Hey Michael, being a native Californian, I'm know that all the little blips that make up 99% of the data on that page are un-feel-able. :-)

However, the striking thing is that there are at least 5 events that are ~5 magnitude (Richter), and they were spread over the entire day. First one about 6am, continued till evening - maybe still going on.
I know now that it is a "cluster" event, and that area (by Salton Sea) is prone to these due to the geology. I didn't know that before. Interesting stuff.

Just found this post... I'm drooling Chuck, totally drooling at your space and organizational skills. My shop is a disaster on both counts. If you're ever out on the East Coast, come help me get it right!

Hey Don, I suggest putting in a wood floor. It does 2 things:
1 - You get a nice floor that is good to your feet and good to you tools (should they decide to leap)
2 - You are forced to pick up everything and move it out. Then you have the chance to re-assemble it ... better.

Great Scott! What a beautiful shop. I now have a patch of drool on my shirt and don't care a wit because seeing your shop is worth it. ;)

Hey, thanks Seth.
Wish I had more time to spend in the shop - life's been crazy lately.

Hey Chuck, I really like your shop. I wish I could keep mine as clean as you do.

Seeing other shops really helps to re-think my own set-up and I find it very interesting as well. Perhaps more of us should start similar threads to show off our shops.

Thanks Mr. Kingma. I'd be interested to see what a pile of Hackberry sawdust looks like.
