Dan's the Man

Post by Jason Rodgers »

Boy, I sure do like those Trade Secrets videos with Dan Erlewine that Stew-Mac has been producing. I've been saving those emails since they've been coming out, but the videos really let you see those processes in action.

Thumbs up for our sponsor!

Dan IS the man! He's a great guy. We should share our "Dan" stories here.
I am 56 now...I first met Dan when I was still a teenager. He had his shop in Big Rapids, MI which is an hour north of where I live. He used to come into Grand Rapids once a month and visit the local music store, when there was a day set aside each month for Dan to repair and setup all the instruments that people brought in that day. I used to take my guitar in when I needed an adjustment, or just hang out and watch him. Later on, when I had joined a band that was playing a lot, we used to pile in our van and drive up to his shop and bring our instruments to have him look them over. Years after that, Dan told us that he was moving to Ohio, where he got involved with Stew Mac. He sold his Guitar Hospital business to Bryan Galloup, who still runs the Guitar Hospital in Big Rapids and we are good friends too. I really enjoy catching up with Dan when I go to the guitar conferences such as the GAL meetings.
