Re: Is this carbon fiber unusually flexible? Low grade?

Josh House Canadian Lutherie Supply has 1/8 x 3/8 pultruded strips. I order mine directly from Allred (Dragon Plate). I usually order 6 or so 4 ft. lengths. Makes the shipping cost worthwhile.

Re: Truss rod choice for OM build

I'm with Alan. I've been using Blanchard rods for a few years now and I like the fact that I can order the exact length I need. For me it is well worth the extra expense.

Re: Brite-Tone water base lacquer

I am using a Walcom STM with a 1.2 tip. It's the older version of the EGO offered at Wood Essence. I've used it for 3 or 4 instruments and like it so far. I don't know about US distributors, but I live in Canada so it works for me.

Re: Brite-Tone water base lacquer

I have begun using it and so far have sprayed a couple of test boards and one instrument. I like it so far. clear and hard and polishes and buffs to a high gloss. No blue tone. It uses fewer coats than KTM9 or SV and is ready to level sand and buff in 4 days. I get mine here -- http://www.woodessenc...

Classical Guitar with bolt on neck

I am doing a classical, well somewhat of a hybrid as it's for a steel string player who wants a slightly narrower neck -1 15/16 - than a normal classical and a slight radius on the fretboard - 20 in. What do I need to consider regarding fretboard and neck to body geometry? I understand that those wh...

You might try some CA in the hole until it fits. It should hold the threads ok.

Re: Shellac flakes slow to dissolve

Cutting alcohol with Acetone wouldn't be all that bad. Acetone is not very hazardous. As a matter of fact, the body produces Acetone. Plenty of denaturants would be worse. As a matter of fact plenty of folks add some acetone to the alcohol to get a faster build when using the "Wet Build" ...

Re: Barnes and Noble Woes

Coming from a long career in being a publisher's rep to bookstores and retail, I am totally with you Chuck. It was painful to see some of the grand old independent bookstores fail and fade away. There are still a few left, but they are few and far between.
