Anyone have an idea how the Eastman El Rey is braced.

Inspection cameras

Hey everybody,
I'm looking into buying a video inspection camera for guitar work plus whatever.
Are the cheap ones worth getting or better yet what should I look for.

Thanks Robert

Thank you guys very much.
I once saw a Loller SG that was painted white - This might be my chance.

Gibson SG wood ?

In planning to build an SG I am at once confronted with the right wood to use.
I assume that the 1st ones ('61's) were made with Honduras Mahogany but, as you know, African Mohog. is most available.
Does anyone think that there would a preference between the two kinds of wood?

Stripping off water based lacquer help

Greetings from a very quiet California.

I've been trying to strip a Tele that I made a few years ago & nothing seems to work.
I thought maybe the stripper had gone bad so I got some new stuff - still nothing!
I think I used Target coatings - EM6000.

Anyone have experience ?

Re: Distributed Mode loudspeakers - Have there been any discussions?

Randolph, That's what I'm doing. I have seen that video plus many others & am in the process of constructing a pair. A guy named Rich at Parts Express wrote this article on his build & I'm following it. http://projectgallery.parts-express.com/speaker-projects/dml-flat-pannel/ I bought the 24...

Re: Distributed Mode loudspeakers - Have there been any discussions?

Thanks David, I just wanted to build some inexpensive speakers for the house that might be better than the bookshelves I have. I'm using a Hafler DH200 amp & preamp.

I have watched several videos using various materials & thought I'd start here. I'm anxious to try the Spruce next.

Distributed Mode loudspeakers - Have there been any discussions?

Hi Everyone, I haven't been around for a while I've been taking a break from Guitar building & building other things. I have recently found an interest in DML's & don't know if they have been discussed here. Most of the non-pro versions I've heard sound too bright & lacking in low end. I...

Re: Veneer Info.

Thanks, Clay, I guess I should have figured that out for myself since all of the reconstituted wood is dyed - No grain.

Veneer Info.

I've been looking for black veneer for neck laminations & there are a lot of Solid wood reconstituted dyed veneers.
What is meant by reconstituted? & is it strong enough for a laminated neck?

Parlor Guitar with Tail piece ???

I'd like to make a Parlor w/ brass tailpiece. My question is regarding the bracing.
I've never made a flat top with a tailpiece so what happens to the braces, however, I have mandolins
Would I use a Transverse brace here?

Re: Trouble with Water based finishes.

Thanks for the help guys. Nice to talk to someone who's been there. I'm looking forward to trying something new so I appreciate your suggestions. How does Crystalac compare to General Finishes - any opinions? In light of what you’re all saying I did apply a coat every hour for 5 coats a day. What wi...
