Re: First Guitar as done as it's going to be.
Yep Although I may have found a way to stop that cycle. My current odd attempt at an unusual design is fretless. Any intonation issues will be easily explained by my lack of playing ability so I can still think I built it well. We will see. I should probably finish this summer if I don’t get too sid...

I like it. The woods look really good together and the rosette is beautiful.
Hopefully it plays as good as it looks!

Re: Hello - just joined
Welcome aboard, “unfinished projects” sounds familiar, it can be hard to focus with the Lake there to distract you, and if you are like me, the puzzle of the concept and attempting to design a weird idea into a physical product can be a distraction if the last Idea’s project is still incomplete. I l...

Re: Building instruments, while having young kids
Yep A slip of the tongue can get you in a bit of trouble, just forget that word unless you are paying a neighborhood kid for a specific time. You are just hanging out with your kid. You will be providing care when needed, and comic relief always. Now is the time to work on silly faces and your dad j...

If you are like me, you may have to learn to work on one thing at a time, and to put your stuff away, especially sharp, fragile, sticky, or small stuff away between uses.
The first six months are a learning period for you as the new one increases In mobility and curiosity. Perceptions will change.

Re: Burst and French Polish?
That’s how I’m doing this one. Blonde, Amber, button lac, and a deep garnet. This was a couple coats ago. It is easy to rub the color out out and start over, and this had definitely been a learning experience. I think I’m getting the hang of it now, and find it easier/ faster to lay a deep color coa...

Wow. That’s cool. And surprisingly similar to what I’m attempting in overall shape.

Re: Harmonica repair info/forum wanted
I started it. Plans have changed a few times lol. So far I have a neck and scroll roughed out, a top carved and attached to the sides. I haven’t braced it yet, and still need to thin it out a bit. I’ve done everything on this build weird lol. In the end it should probably give the impression of what...

Re: Harmonica repair info/forum wanted
Nice pics. Yea Slidemeister is 99% chromatics, but there is a diatonic section and one of the members is a great repair guy who is partial to Special 20s. Popping that rivet and replacing the reed is the best bet. I be soldered reeds to change the note, never to fix a crack. Replacement reed plates ...

Re: Harmonica repair info/forum wanted
I used to do a good bit of harmonica modding/ retuning so if it’s something like flattening the reed in space or tone , resetting it, or sharpening it, I can offer a little help. Depending on the model/ reed I may have a replacement if you want. There used to be some active discussion at Slidemeiste...

Re: Do I need a body mold?
Very nice.
I may step the coin idea for a screw cover.
I used to collect ancient coins, and have a few of low value that would do the trick nicely.

That looks really nice.
I can’t tell from the angle of the picture, is the tailpiece bolted to the end block through the top?

Thanks!
I was going to bid, even though I don’t have a build planned, but kept looking at thinking that this would be perfect for an ABG.

Re: Giveaway- LMI Richlite and Rocklite fingerboards (bass)
Thanks.
That sounds good, and like it may be a perfect substrate for learning inlay work. Im not doing that yet, but I may consider it as an option for a fretless bass.

I’m pretty new, and things have been slow since I joined, but I learned a lot reading older posts. Great resource.
I’ll look for some stuff. Maybe even try some sketches for the shirt.
When does the auction close?
