Wow! Rulers Are Not the Same! Recommend An Accurate Straight-Edge?
Oh my gosh! Have you ever lined up various rulers in your workshop to see if they match up? I just did and was shocked to see they don't match. Can the good people here offer me suggestions as to a manufacturer of an accurate straight-edge ruler? I'm thinking I need an accurate 36-incher. Thank you ...

Wow! So many great replies. I had no idea about chalk fitting, etc.
I've been pouring over each reply and watching videos.
Grateful to each of you!

Triple O - Dovetail neck doesn't seat - Photos
-Stewmac Triple O Kit -First Build Anyone see a problem in the photos? Or have ideas for me? My dovetail neck doesn't seat all the way into neck block. Everything seems clean - I re-chiseled edges, etc. I'm not sure where, or what is stopping the fit??? What approach should I take here? Thanks!! IMG...

Re: Ideas? Dinged Spruce Soundboard (photos)
Thanks all, -Update- I've worked on steaming the dings yesterday and will try a little more today. Maybe use some spit :) Plan B: If I did hide glue some cedar fiber into it - then use a plexiglass caul - once dry - How to pull plexiglass away without tearing more wood? Taking wood with it? This top...

Ideas? Dinged Spruce Soundboard (photos)
Stewmac Tripple O Kit. Spruce. The wood is raw - unfinished. Dang. Not sure how, or when, this even happened. These dings have broken wood fibers, so steaming them out didn't work. Steaming did work on a couple surrounding smaller dings. Any ideas on how to reduce the dings? Or help the look? IMG_70...

Re: Ugh! Big Bad Router Screw-Up. Suggestions Please.
The bearing spinning with the shank, as I was using router VERY lightly.... Not pressing bearing against side walls. Then the spinning bearing, wrapped with tape suddenly turned white (with melted plastic). I had a piece of tape wrapped around the bearing to get the right depth.. I assume the tape p...

Ugh! Big Bad Router Screw-Up. Suggestions Please.
I just used the router to clean up the binding edges of the plastic end trim. Things went bad! My first guitar; and I could use any suggestions on how to proceed! PS seems the router bearing melted the plastic and burrowed into everything. ..Tape added to bearing to get size I wanted. IMG_6893.JPG I...

Might a shellac wash coat effect using pore fillers later on??
Example: spruce top, but rosewood rosette and rosewood sides.

I’m Stuck. Wash Coat Before Binding...
1st Build Stewmac, Triple O, Rosewood, Spruce top Here’s where I'm stuck. I'm about to router the body edges for binding. If I add shellac as a protective wash coat, what to do with the shellacked areas after routing? I have Super Blond shellac (from flakes), but I'm sure this will stain/darken the ...
