Re: Rosette purfling problem
Ron - I understood you, except about the shellac. Are you saying you shellac the inside of the channels before putting the purfling in? What does the shellac do for you?

Re: Crown? Clearance? Baritone uke
Ron - Do you mean radius the fretboard? I think ukes usually dont have a radius on the fb since it's so small and only 4 strings wide. For kicks, I sanded a 16" radius on a soprano uke fb - nearly invisible and not perceptible in playing. I suppose a baritone would be a little different - but s...

Rosette purfling problem
I'm sure this has come up, but couldn't find anything in the library: I was installing a wood rosette ring surrounded by 3 purfling lines on the inside and outside. While I thought I had enough space in the dry fit, when I glued it up (LMI instrument glue), I ran out of space with the outermost line...

Bending Claro Walnut
I'm thinking about an 000 style guitar using claro walnut B&S. I'ved used a "light bulb" bender previously - easy with EIR, difficult for me with highly figured mahogany soprano uke. What's walnut like to bend? There are some nice figured sets out there, but expect it might be difficul...

Low temp finishing & shellac questions
I'm one of those people who does (almost) everything in the (unheated) garage. This time of year in NJ it's cold in there: 40 - 50F (I get some heat by virtue of the attached house). I'm ready for the finishing stage for my guitar build and plan to brush KTM9 (I've only used this in warmer weather)....

Re: Questions for a William Cumpiano interview
Looking forward to the interview! We've all followed his book and it still seems to be the best one out there that I'm aware of, at least. But it's, what, 30 years old? It seems that some new ideas have developed since then (Taylor style butted neck joints, radius sanding dishes, silicone heat blank...

Re: 100 mile guitar ??
Howard - I have found this process can take alot of time - hundreds of hours, depending on how efficient you are, present wood working skills, etc. The wood is the least of it. If this is OK with you, go for it and have fun! But I'm not sure how happy you would be with the woods you suggest, so you ...
