MIMF

Recently purchased a vintage Oahu square neck, slot head lap acoustic. I removed the old string to clean it up and do some minor repairs. When I went to restring it, the tuner posts have no holes, only a 1/4 inch shallow slot. Can anyone tell me how to attach the strings to the tuner shafts??

Happy to have become a member and looking forward to continuing a lifelong education. I stumbled on a Bacon and Day mandolin banjo in a junk shop this week and looking for help with restoration. Specifically trying to source the tailpiece, which is missing. Thanks.
