Re: Wood Glue on a Record
I think what we've really learned is that I can't use Tite-Bond to fix my old Monkees Greatest Hits LP.

Most Tele Necks taper from nearly an inch to @ .850" at the first fret. A .500" neck would be fine if, you have the hands of a 10 yr old girl and use .008s.
Sounds like time to start over to me.

A super nice guy and great builder. We had some good email discussions about his electric resonator and slide guitar playing.
RIP Andy.

A real beauty! Love the burst and Trovador-style 'f' holes.

Re: Nathan Noel's Mary Kaye Tele
Very nice all around. The color is very classy with the dark neck and tort pickguard.
I've really become a fan of wenge (aka, African Splinter Wood
) for fretboards and necks. Even have one 1/2 done with a 3-piece wenge cap.

Re: Resonator guitar
The wedge is normal.
As far as setting the neck angle install the cone in the well and lay a straightedge on the frets. It should just clear top of the biscuit and that will give you anywhere between 3/16-1/4" of saddle height depending on how high you want the action.

Re: Resonator guitar
On the metal body I was taking about I only added two between the soundwell and the back. National at one time used four but eventually went to only two. On my wood body guitars I don't use any but instead brace the back like an acoustic. It gives a little more 'modern' sound I think. My '33 El Ttov...

Re: Resonator guitar
Just one comment re. the neck stick or lack thereof. I also go without on wood body guitars (I bolt them on) but when putting together one of the Stew-Mac metal body kits (since discontinued) that didn't use them I discovered that while you don't need a neck stick, adding a couple 'mushroom' posts u...

Re: Catalpa Wood Tips for First-Time Tele
I'm on my 3rd Catalpa solid body and I love the stuff. I do an epoxy grain fill to toughen it up but that's nearly a lost cause, it's just soft stuff and it will dent far easier than ash or even alder.
Still worth it IMP for the light weight and look.

Pretty cool. I really like the Supro-ish shape, German carve edges and diamond plate.

Re: Poor Grounding Question - Stainless Steel
It comes with two wires, one of which was grounded to the base and the magnet is bolted to the base so that all should have been good.

Re: Poor Grounding Question - Stainless Steel
Just sent it out today. The grounding was fine, just a lot of hum from that huge horseshoe magnet, single coil, a cheap amp (Valve Jr) and lots of flo lights in the shop. When checking the ground with a jumper it made no difference but trying it with my Ampeg Jet the overall amount of him was far le...

Re: Poor Grounding Question - Stainless Steel
Yes the hum goes away when I touch the bridge, strings, pickup or output jack. As for as the conductivity of SS, I checked that out right before I posted thinking that it might be my problem. Didn't realize it was so poor but I guess that explains the lack of ad copy about expensive stainless guitar...

Poor Grounding Question - Stainless Steel
I just put together a lap steel and I've got some grounding hum. It's basically the same design as 4 others I've done but this time I grounded it via the bridge screws rather than the string anchor and I'm wondering if the stainless steel saddle and screws are causing my problem. The connection is s...
