Level the drum to the feed table. Should be parallel to the table. Also take light passes as you near the desired final thickness. Heavy passes can cause the drum to flex up and out of parallel. I built an OM with cherry back, sides and neck with a redwood top. Turned out great and the new owner loves it. I laminated the neck with maple. C\M\C\M\C. Also bound it with curly maple.

I have been building dreads with the help of a deflection jig. Maybe I should phrase the question like this. If I arrive at the desired stiffness for a dread, would a parlor, made with that top have to be thinned ?? Or use the same thickness for a parlor as for a dread???
