Blueridge truss rod dimensions
I've glued a headstock break on a Blueridge Carter Stanley model and will be adding splines to reinforce the area. I'm not sure how wide the truss rod is though, and wonder if anyone has experience working on these guitars or any knowledge of the truss rods they use. Thanks for any help.

Re: Name That Guitar
You don't see many signatures nowadays. I remember really liking the goldtop version Michael Ward played in the Wallflowers many moons ago. He's probably still playing it, I just haven't seen him since their breakup.

Re: New project. Silvertone 672
I tried to avoid a refret but, after leveling and having some really low frets, I had to do it. Leveled the fretboard and replaced the binding. It was very thin and brittle. Made a new nut and bridge base, as the old one was way too low to work after the neck reset. Oh yeah, also fabricated a pickgu...

Well I am a hillbilly, so this is a match made in heaven .Brian Evans wrote:That's a whole new level of hillbilly... On the bridge, you are looking for around 1" or so over the top with the straightedge on the fretboard. I'd reset the neck.
Update: finally got the neck removed via steam.

Re: New project. Silvertone 672
What would be your goal(s) of doing another reset? I would hope to get it right this time around. Closing up the gaps at the bottom of the neck heel and under the fretboard extension would certainly make it look better, and there isn't a whole lot of room for a bridge as it is now. The top pic is a...

Re: New project. Silvertone 672
Very cool. Well, yes and no  . Upon closer inspection, there has been a neck reset which didn't go so well. The fretboard extension is laying on the top, there's that gap at the joint, and the glue they used has dripped quite a bit inside the guitar, making a real mess. Won't be able to clean ...

New project. Silvertone 672
My Granddad bought this at a yard sale several years ago and left it to his son (my uncle). It needed more TLC than he was able to give it so he sent it to me. Tuners are the obvious first priority, and I've ordered some. I'll be doing a fret leveling today and hopefully that goes well. There's no t...

Re: Archtop #1 in progress
Thanks, Barry. It's really punchy and loud, maybe a little bright. But it sounds great to me! I don't think I have actually played another acoustic archtop in my life, so all I have to go on for comparison is recordings or videos. Mine compares well enough I guess. I'm enjoying it quite a bit and I'...

Re: Archtop #1 in progress
Well, it sure has been a long time coming, but I do finally have it all put together. Sprayed a wash coat of lacquer and filled the walnut, not I'm waiting for some spraying weather to get it completed.

Re: Archtop body binding with router
All I did was cut a 2" round piece of 3/4" plywood with a hole saw, drill a hole in the center and mount it on my router table. The arch of my guitars is 3/4", so I rest the guitar on the center of it's arch and the edge on the plywood, and spin the guitar past the bearing-guided bit...

Archtop body binding with router
I've built a router jig for cutting the binding channels on my archtop body. Something like this one: https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=91026&d=1346354102 All I'm missing is the "donut". That little ring underneath that rides on top of the edge of the guita...
