Re: Vinyl covered Telecaster
Hahaha Steve ...funny. I wondered about the weight of type nails, but thinking back, they didn't weigh very much in the shopping basket. 9 packages of 30 - 1/4 inch chrome nailheads. The brand is "Homepak" purchased at Home Hardware for $2.99/ pack. I had fun improvising the string tree. J...

Vinyl covered Telecaster
I have just recently finished making a body from Poplar for a 5 string open tuning slide guitar. I was looking for an alternative to paint, and I chose marine vinyl and chrome nailheads.

Re: Denim Covered Telecaster
Hi Jason, the water was wiped onto the wood body just so the glue would soak in a bit. Not really necessary, but I did it to please myself. I used Lepage's Carpenter's glue. I was a bit nervous about the glue soaking through, and if it did anywhere, I did not notice. There are no rough areas on the ...

Re: Denim Covered Telecaster
Thanks Eric, it sounds incredible. I was really surprised the first time I played it loud at a club. Considering it was made of 16 strips glued together. The pickup is a Seymour Duncan PAF. The sound is very rich in tone, growly, creamy, everything. The sustain is nice, and it can be a real dirty mo...

Re: Denim Covered Telecaster
Thanks Bryan! It has been a few years now and it looks fine, hardly any wear at all that I can see.

Denim Covered Telecaster
I made a body for a Tele neck that I had a few years back. Looking for an alternative to paint, I decided to try and cover it with denim from a worn out pair of GWG's. Here is a link to some build pics and description. http://my-denim-guitar.blogspot.ca/

Re: Removable neck acoustic instrument ?
I selected a small rectangle of walnut to cap the cutaway tip. Also, I reinforced the sound hole "tabs" with small pieces of walnut.

Re: Removable neck acoustic instrument ?
I have sanded the soundboard and back to smooth out the chisel marks made from thinning the front and back. I have glued a small bit of Sapelle veneer to the cutaway area and I am pleased with the results. I have been looking for some sort of epoxy that I can paint on the edges ( like a binding ) to...

Re: Removable neck acoustic instrument ?
I'm having so much fun playing this thing that I can't bring myself to remove the strings and continue with sanding. The bass tone is really something. Also, the tone of the wound strings between the 3 and 8th frets ... hard to put into words .... I have never heard a guitar sound quite so ....organ...
