Re: Seeking suggestions on how to dispose of cyanoacrylate glue

unfortunately, most of the CA's we see come from overseas and require stabilizers in them to keep them fresh. Problem is that even with the stabilizers, often by the time you get the product it is already a year old and on its way out. Try putting the unopened bottles in the refrigerator until use b...

Re: Repairing Scratches in French Polished Top

One could try a Finisher as I have seen Mario Beauregard use these products to fill the pores and buff to a high gloss. I've also seen Ian Davlin do repairs this way as well. Not sure about this exact application however I think it would work just as well.

Re: Thickness of French Polish finish

I have seen Mario Beauregard use a Finishing product for French polishing which filled the pores and was able to buff to an incredible shine.

Yes CA's cure by moisture and are also affected by acid in the wood as well as a variety of other factors. Thanks for the clarification Michael.

Re: Most Transparent Wipe-On Finnish

We haven't seen that. All of our testing shows CA as an excellent finish and especially when using one that has some flexible attributes to it. Also a high quality CA shouldn't affect the color of wood in most cases.

Re: Best glue for little chips

Some guys use an accelerator and some CA. They lay the CA in the area for application and then spray the chip with the accelerator and put them together. Works great and if you use the correct viscosity, you will have enough open time for a great fit.

Re: CA For Fixing chips

Very good points David and thanks for your reply. Yes there are products that address your concerns above. We've seen excellent results with some Finishing products all of which are brushable, self-leveling, and dry to a glossy finish, and some that have accelerators that assist as well. Only way to...

Re: CA For Fixing chips

Hi David While the base may be similar, Finishing type products have specific additives to enhance or create desired properties. In our case one would want a product that was not only best used for wood, but one which has both flexibility and clarity as just some of the key component attributes for ...

I have seen some CA's go on pretty transparent and can be used to finish with. Might want to look around.

Why does the nozzle on CA bottles always clog and how can I keep them from clogging?

Why does the nozzle on CA bottles always clog and how can I keep them from clogging? The CA in the tip of the nozzle is reacting with moisture in the small orifice and hardening. Typically once the CA hardens the user will take a pin and stick it down into the nozzle to open it up only to find it cl...

Re: Help us create an FAQ for glues!

Some CA Facts. We have found that the weakest link in the chain is typically the substrate so strength claims while important aren't an end all and be all determining factor. Ease of use, non yellowing, safer products, glues that allow for techniques which alleviate dust, and other factors make for ...
