Re: membrane for horn guitar project
Yes of course, António Torres did this. The point is that the tornavoz is not so efficient and I came to the idea of this project exactly while thinking about the tornavoz. If I listen to the sound of a Stroh violin and Violon Cello on You tube I find it is surprising. It confirms what I find always...

Re: membrane for horn guitar project
Hi again, I will most probably make a first attempt by playing around with a good phonograph sound box. I might want trying to attach it to the bridge somehow and check out what it does. Perhaps a medium size speaker membrane could do the job also. The basic idea is to maintain the original set-up o...

membrane for horn guitar project
Hi again, I am planning to adapt the concept of the Stroh violin to a classical guitar. I wanted to know if there are members around who are experienced with the membranes and diaphragms. Is it better to build a specific membrane or should I use any kind of membrane available. Do you know about some...

Re: Hello from Lisbon Portugal
Hi Simon, absolutly. I also like more the instruments which wispers: please touch me, don't be afraid. The point is that we become much concerned about scratches as the clients are so concerned about even if I do not care. On the other hand french polish gives really no protection and you make a scr...

Re: Re-finishing a french-polished red cedar soundboard and damage repair
Thank you again for your replies. I have started the job and until now it is easier than I expected. I use a little pumice. I have filled the bigger dents with heavy cut shellack and have used 00000 steal-wool to level locally when needed. Well lets hope that everything goes smooth until the end.

Re: Re-finishing a french-polished red cedar soundboard and damage repair
Hi again, thank you both for your very kind and usefull returns. The guitar is one of my own build, it is from a client who did resell the guitar to a student. The problem is that the professor did scratch up the guitar pretty bad allready in the first few month. So the student who bought it wants i...

Re-finishing a french-polished red cedar soundboard and damage repair
Hi all, I am going to refinish a cedar top which has plenty of scratches on it. I have done it before and I find this always a challenge. If you sand the scratches out this may leave some blotchy spots with different stain and I find always, when I look to a refinished top in an angel against the li...

Hi all, Hi everybody, My name is Christian Schwengeler. I'm a classical guitar builder in Lisbon Portugal.
