Was the lamination for strength or aesthetics? Any pics? Thanks.Victor Seal wrote:I built an OM with cherry back, sides and neck with a redwood top. Turned out great and the new owner loves it. I laminated the neck with maple. C\M\C\M\C. Also bound it with curly maple.

Re: cherry for neck?
The neck and blocks would be as close to quarter sawn, straight grained wood as possible. Really not looking to do a lamination either at this point.

cherry for neck?
My son is building a Cherry OM guitar. He has sourced some sweet looking wavy cherry for the back and sides. The top is going to be Redwood. He was wondering about using cherry for the neck and blocking also. Does anyone have any experience in building an acoustic steel string neck from cherry? Any ...

Re: One or several Solera's?
Thank you for your detailed responses. I have followed several different build threads of amateur, and professional luthiers. I also found a very good photo essay on the techniques used by Froggy Bottom. There are so many ways to accomplish any one task. The more I read, the less certain I become it...

One or several Solera's?

Jointing with a Shooting Board; Plane or Sander?
For those that use a shooting board to joint: How many use a plane vs. a sander approach? The reason I ask is that I noticed LV has started selling a shooting sander. I saw some comments from folks that do veneer work, but was wondering about guitar tops and backs as I'm planning my first build. Any...

Bracing, to tuck or not
Hello, I am planning my first build (acoustic steel string guitar). As I've researched different designs and bracing patterns I've noticed some tone bars and bridge plates are actually tucked in to the X braces. Is this more the exception than the rule? Among the books I am reading is Cumpiano/Natel...
