My favorite for neck shaping is the 12" cabinet maker's rasp. This is an 8 grain from The Best Things & it was made by Liogier.
Also in pic are an old Nicholson 49 & 50.
The little one is a 9 grain model maker's from Liogier - it's good for peg head transition.

Re: Grellier OM Bracing Pattern
I'm building my 4th OM from those plans. This one will be tapered bracing. The first 2 were scalloped like the plans because I didn't know what else to do or what to change. They both sounded good from the start, nothing spectacular but in no way bad. The 3rd I didn't scallop as much. I thought it s...

Re: When do YOU cut your neck block mortise?
I've always done it prior because I haven't invested the time and/or money in a jig.
Cutting afterward definitely makes sense.
Anyone willing to share their setup? I've looked at the building the O'Brien Jig and I've also looked at the Luthier Tool jigs which look very nice but $$$.

Re: L-00 build, ideas, pifalls?

Re: Finish in violet transparent
Before you apply the tinted finish, first seal with clear.
If you are going to use tinted lacquer, I would seal with vinyl sealer or shellac. This will keep all of the colored finish on top of the guitar and not allow it to soak into the grain which can cause uneven color.
