Re: Replace X- braces without removing top?
So, best way to remove? Hot iron on top+, heat gun or just heat gun + some water? It's all hide- glue.

Re: Replace X- braces without removing top?
No never heard of density measurements. I'll be lucky to get done with what I've got. It's adi and Carpathian although now I'm going strictly Adi tops.

Re: Replace X- braces without removing top?
Ok. I would post a pic and dimensions when I dig it out of storage.
It's a Carpathian top with adi braces. I can get thickness of braces etc.

Re: Replace X- braces without removing top?
I was thinking about laminating more bracewood but I think it would kill the tone. Im a tone nut.

Re: Replace X- braces without removing top?
It's an old build, closer to a jumbo than a Dred. I'm pretty sure theyre too thin. It's just Top and Sides. No back. But I think the top is dished also

Ok I don't quite get the " bracket" thing.??
I use hide glue, is this easy to scrape off? Probably heat gun it?

Replace X- braces without removing top?
My first build was probably too thin on the X braces. Big Question- ugh. Any practical way to :
thicken ( add??) More volume to the X braces or..,
Replace X braces without removing the top? They go under the kerfling.

Fretboard neck body what first?
I have an old Washburn ( 1920s) that I am replacing the freatboard on plus neck reset. It's in 3 pieces. I'm not sure if I need to set neck to body (neck angle) first or glue fretboard to neck first?. (No truss rod just a rectangular neck rod.) Pics soon.)

Re: Baroque Guitar Bridge Height And Thickness.
The 'scoop' in the top can be done by using a strip of parchment, (GAL plans) The parchment shrinks, causing a 'dome' or at least negative tension.

Issues with pre-fretting overhanging part of fretboard?
I think I would rather pre-fret my Martin second fretboard, the first 7 frets or so. I've read luthiers doing this successfully, or that it may bend one way, or? Any issues to look for?

Ah, looks like most people use a table saw to cut the file slot.
