Re: Your first build - how'd it go
Looking back it went very well, considering how many times it almost went in the stove. I remember stringing it up, I was working on the nut and reaming bridge pins and got the low E on and was really amazed at how horrible it sounded  got all the strings on did a rough preliminary set up a...

Re: L-00 build, ideas, pifalls?
I recently finished up my version of a 1937 Nick Lucas special. John Arnold supplied a very detailed tracing of his original 1937, I tried to get as close as possible to what Gibson did (I went with a 13 fret neck) Great little guitar.

Re: Apparently, I Need a Tutorial on Side Bending
Rear bout, front bout, waist. By the time my thermometer hits "150C" I've bent the rear bout, the front bout is bent by "190C" and the waist by "220C" I let it get to "300C" and back off on the heat it gets down to "250C by the time the 15 minute timer sh...

Start bending at "110/120C" or it will break, buckle etc. I just followed John Halls recommendations.

Re: Apparently, I Need a Tutorial on Side Bending
I had the same thing happen to me. I had successfully bent Sycamore, White Oak, Curly Maple, and messed up a really nice set of Honduras Mahogany sides. John Hall at Blues Creek had the answer. I use a Fox style bender, heating blanket, and stainless slats, & craft paper. Wood and paper slightly...

Re: A Stratocaster-inspired guitar from Mark Swanson
Nice guitar, more impressive is your out playing it live. I played in several bands into my 30's and have had quite a break. My youngest daughter (she's 13) can sing like an angel and its been a lot of fun getting out in the community with her.

Re: How to reattach a violin neck?
Thanks to everyone for the advice. Success! I very carefully cleaned all the old hide glue off all the exposed surfaces. Also cleaned out three suspicious looking joints on the body and reglued. DId a dry fit, needed just a little bit of scraping on the neck, and then glued her back together all wit...

Re: How to reattach a violin neck?
Do NOT use epoxy. What you have there is an easy repair, the way it is: Epoxy will make the instrument unrepairable, permanently. Use warm water and a brush to clean all the old glue out of the seams, and reglue the seams first, so that the corpus is solid. Then do the same thing to the neck joint....

Re: Dovetail Neck
John Arnold & Wayne Henderson use a table saw. Martin did it for years, I was just curious?
Thanks
