convert to a 10 string
I have had someone ask me if I could convert their 5 string bass, to a 10 string. a 10 string that is like a 12 string guitar, with Octave strings. any input would be helpful. not sure if I am going to attempt, I am a little concerned about the added stress on the truss rod/neck. thanks

Re: Building the Hofner "Beatle Bass"
interesting, something that struck me was the lack of safety equipment when using the power tools. sure can tell that OSHA is not around, Also if you go the Hofner site, they now have a Plant in Bejing China, Just sayin.

Re: truss rod question
thanks for the input. after thinking and reading these post, I am going to build one with an allied rod, and the other with the old fashion Gibson rod, since I am building one for me and one for my friend, it will be interesting to see and hear the differences, I am going to use identical wood, pick...

Re: Dust collectors to stay away from?
the only dust collector to stay away from is " no dust collector" even if you use a shop vac it is better that none, I build cabinets, and furniture for a living, and dust a a major problem, I use a grizzly with a trash can separator and dump the thing once every two days. take care or you...

truss rod question
I am getting ready to build a Bass for myself and one for my friend at the same time, I have built 12 or so guitars, in acoustic, electrics, and a couple of basses, I have always used the old fashioned gibson truss rods, made from the steel rod and have had good luck. but this time is am going to tr...

New/old build
here is a teardrop bass I built, to play in a 60's tribute band, it is a semi-hollow body made from poplar, maple neck, rosewood fret board. I made the head small as the Vox's teardrops are neck heavy and difficult to play, I did put a humbucker under the cover. it has a little more "sound"...
