Is there a preferred direction to go regarding a cello build with a poplar back and sides?
do larger or smaller bodied styles go better with the characteristics of a softer wood like poplar or willow? or does it even matter?

And reglued it on after reglueing the back. but everything has to line up as near perfect as you can get it....

Re: Really Nasty old glue.....
I wondered about that (tape)...... and thought maybe they globbed on the black glue and taped over it.... because it definitely has a cross-hatch pattern like tape was over it. inside the body, you can see a lot of squeeze out thru the split that suggest there might be more glue there than could com...

Re: Removing Broken Neck Screw
I had a similar situation and had great success using a different type extractor that I got from my local chain woodworkers store (not sure if I can mention WoodCraft?)..... its basically a small tube that you chuck into a drill. each end is finished like a tiny hole saw....serrated. choose the size...

Semi-Hemispherical fret work
I have a friend and fellow builder ask me recently about how this type of fret end treatment is done?
anyone using this style and care to provide a walk-thru?
thanks in advance.
