Just an update. Turns out the pickguard was stopping the switch from making contact in one of the last positions. I think the volume thing was due to switching between series and paralell.

So I finally wired the strat with this mod. It seems to work but when I go through the switches and tap pole pieces some coils are making clicks when they should be off.
