Re: Paint type for swirl finishes
I guess it's been just luck so far. Enamels seem to work fine. One key factor seems to be the paint dilution. If it's too thick, the paint will sink; if its too thin, it wont cover properly. Here's another try. This one has purple, white, black and silver grey.

Re: Paint type for swirl finishes
Here's the same body on a side view. BTW, the laquer is a metallic blue color. Should turn out nice once I clear coat it.

Re: Paint type for swirl finishes
Here is the first attempt. After some tests, laquer seemed to extend better over the water and borax mixture. However, I will eventually come up with a method that works for my local weather conditions (really hot in here). Flip flops are from clients who came to watch the process (should have sold ...

Re: Paint type for swirl finishes
Hello,
I'm planning to dip the guitar into a tank. I just can`t decide whether to use laquer or enamel. In your opinion, which one would work best?

Paint type for swirl finishes
Hello everyone. I've been engouraged to attempt doing a swirl finish on a guitar body which has been generously "donated to science". After doing a little research, I found some people use enamel and others laquer for the colors. I have both types of paint available and I'm not sure which ...

Re: Early '60's Harmony Glue
I agree, it may be Resorcinol; not a very pleasant stuff to use. I don't think switching to hide glue or another more conventional one will have a detrimental effect on the repair, even if its not the original type; especially if the original one is not very safe to use.

Re: Use of oxalic acid to remove stains
Thanks for the input. I prepared a concentrate solution and applied some drops in some small stains to check. After letting it dry for about 15 minutes, the stains were gone. It worked way better than regular bleach (chlorine). One thing that surprised me, it didn't harm the surrounding finish, alth...

Use of oxalic acid to remove stains
Good day everyone. Has anyone used oxalic acid to remove stains from maple necks? It is sold in crystals and I don't know how to use it. All I know is I must wear gloves. Thanks for all input.

Epiphone SST wire connections to jack.
Good day everyone. I got an Epiphone SST without the jack connector. There are too many wires: red, white, black, yellow and a shielding. It may be because the on board eq has a switch to use headphones. I suppose it uses a six lug stereo jack. Does anyone knows the color code for this guitar? All r...
