Patents
Hello people! I've been designing and building solids/ semi-solids for almost 20 years, as a hobby. Recently, a friend asked if I ever patented my designs, and my answer was that I never really thought about that. Surprisingly I found nothing about it on the library. So, what you people feel about i...

Re: Separated finish
Mark, it's not a chip, but more like an Air bubble under the finish. The surface of the finish feels intact. Anyways there's good advice on the vídeo.
Barry, I'll try to inject some CA with a needle and a syringe.
I might skip the wood sealer on the next PU finish...

Separated finish
Hello guys. In the process of sanding/polishing the finish, this guitar took a bump and some of the finish (PU) cracked and became separated from the top. As it's hardwood top and binding, there is no dent, and the crack itself is barely visible and not palpable, then my first idea to simply inject ...

Re: Cleaning mold
Hmm. No vacuum then. I'll try just scraping on one side (that will receive a top wood) to see how it goes. If it goes bad I'll try the vinegar on the other side. Thanks guys.

Re: Cleaning mold
Thanks Barry! I'm thinking of vacuum clean it, than scraping. Just trying to avoid staining the wood.

Cleaning mold
This body blank was stored on a humid room for a few days and got covered in grayish mold. Anyone got some advice on how to clean it? It's very light colored and I'm concerned about the mold staining the wood. TIA

Actually it sounds like a pretty good idea to me. But please tell me about the string nut on that picture.

Re: 2 lacquer questions
In my case, unfortunately late. A few weeks after sanding and buffing a white haze appeared on many spots. Nothing to do with "blushing" during the coating process. It happened to four instruments. Too bad the only solution is to strip all the bad finish and start over...

Re: 2 lacquer questions
I've had incompatibility even with different brands of solvents and lacquer, so I don't reccomend changing the method/product on the same finishing job. About the runs, if they're not REALLY bad, I just ignore them, keep applying the coats and leave the final leveling to the sanding/polishing proces...

I found that linseed oil cures faster than tung oil with similar results, and I've been using it for a while.

Cool retro feel! And clever bridge ground too.
Did you have the time to test drive that vintage tremolo? I'm building a guitar with the same unit right now, and I don't know exactly what to expect.
Cheers!

Re: new low budget build!
You have quite a long neck pocket, you didn't really need to extend the neck through the neck pickup cavity. Anyway that's looking great so far.

Re: second electric done
I like it very much, although the pickups seem way too hot to my taste. These knobs look terrific, could you post some close-up pics? Also, your neck attachment screws seem to go inside the neck pickup cavity, how did you deal with that? Shorter screws perhaps?
Great job anyway.

Re: Building a Fender Jaguar Neck
Neck building scared me for years. Today I wouldn't let anyone do it for me because it's my favorite building step. You can really tweak playability, and perhaps tone, and it's funny. Surely you can get someone to do the gross work for you, but you'll miss it.
