I made a total n00b mistake on my first solid body; tried to use a handheld scroll saw to cut the angles on my solid body's contours rather than planing, drilling, and/or sanding them out to shape. I also agree that the pink insulation board should work well as a more durable replacement for the inside of your case. Also if you are concerned with it getting dented and dinged up over time; you may want to use some high density foam (such as that of a yoga or camping mat - available at any sport...

I guess I'm on the fence about this one. While guitars and basses have their own unique characters, I would worry about input being missed becouse a guitar builder never looks at the bass section or vice versa.
