Re: Harpejji

It's a tapper, and one of the more interesting ones I've seen. Decades ago, I saw in the back of Electronic Musician magazine a little blurb about a thing called the Starrboard (named after a Denver guy, John Starr, who owns the patent) , and they had a pic of it. It was kind of like the Harpedji an...

Re: Considerations for hardwood amp cabinets

Sorry for taking so long to get back here. Let me put forth a speculation. Could it possibly be that the canary wood is NOT amplifying so much as it's getting out of the way of the speaker and letting it actually put out what it's capable of? Is it possible that other woods are actually pulling down...

Re: Considerations for hardwood amp cabinets

As I wasn't there for his tests, I can't verify what he's written, but he does won a fairly well known amplifier company, and has been building the things for well over 20 years. He's also got enough equipment to measure the output before he writes it down in his fourth book. I would write to him an...

Re: Considerations for hardwood amp cabinets

Gerald Weber of Kendrick Amplifier fame in his fourth book talks about building cabinets out of every hardwood he could find. It's a pretty interesting part of the book. He came to some very interesting conclusions. He said that there are woods that he would NEVER build cabinets out of after doing t...

Re: Any experience with Roland GK-kit for midi guitar?

I was actually just reading a VERY old copy of Electronic Musician and it has an article about that very thing. It says that placement is critical. It also said that the G string tends to be a bit too high on the pickup, and the author (Craig Anderton) actually filed it down (yikes!) to make it more...

Re: Troubleshooting Fender Hot Rod Deluxe- won't turn on

I've had a run of things with bad switches, lately, so just out of personal prejudice, that's where I'm going. If the fuse is reading okay with a meter, then it's okay. I would vote for either the switch (first) or the power cable socket (second). It really sounds like no power is getting to the tra...

Re: Why Is Thickness Sander Motor Stalling

Gerry: DO NOT assume that time will discharge a cap. In a LEAKY one, yes, it will. In a good cap, that charge can last literally for YEARS. There are plenty of people who have had large parts of their personality and years taken off their lives because they assumed a cap was discharged. They can put...
